We take pride in the police k9 that is selected for our detection and patrol program. We can train passive or aggressive alert depending on your departments needs. The breed of choice is the Labrador retriever, Belgian Malinois, Dutch shepherd and the German shepherd. All dogs must go through a selection test that most will fail. Only a hand full of the dogs will ever see the street as a Police K9.
The training is about an eight to twelve week process to insure your police k9 is ready for the street. Don't be fooled by trainers who say they can accomplish this is a few weeks. Training will start by teaching sent association combined with learning the desired response (aggressive/passive). We will then move on to the search pattern in a building. After this has been mastered we will start vehicle searches (exterior and interior). Your K9 will be exposed to working on the street with moving traffic. Our goal is to expose the dog to real life situations where he will be required to perform with little to no distractions.
The odors we train are: Marijuana, Cocaine, Including (Hashish and Crack)
Dual purpose police k9 (Patrol/Detection)
Our dual purpose police K9's will have at least 2+ years of training and will only be trained by us using a bite suit, hidden equipment, and our favorite the muzzle. Our dogs will have to perform under extreme pressure or they will not be considered for our patrol program. Your Police K9 will be introduced to gun fire, building searches and tactical entry (Trained to speak on command and be quiet on command) and tactical movement. (Tracking is offered at additional cost.)
We wish all departments to provide their K9 teams with continuing K9 education and time to train their K9 partner. This will not only benefit your department but may save the life of an officer.
